Butterfy Privacy Policy.

Butterfy is a not-for-profit organization building a self-sustaining business model which does not rely on advertisement. Thereby, the organization keeps its independence and does not need any third-party investors or clients. Butterfy’s only obligation is to you.

This gives us the freedom of not having to collect unnecessary data. Your data privacy and security are a top concern for Butterfy. We treat your data with the utmost care and in accordance with the applicable laws and this privacy policy. Butterfy does not collect anything that is not absolutely needed and necessary for the respective purpose. We use servers in Switzerland and in the European Union. We use servers in the USA only as far as necessary.

However, some third-party services we are using (like Twitter or Vimeo) have different business models and thus, different privacy policies. Please be aware that those services might try to collect data without us wanting that. Make sure you protect yourself with anonymizing tools like the Tor Browser.

User account data

New Butterfy accounts are created with an email and a password. When using Butterfy with a user account, your activity (such as your submitted content links) will be recorded in an anonymized way to ensure the integrity of the platform (e.g. preventing bad actors from flooding the platform with spam or harmful content). Your information is stored and Butterfy may use third-party software for that, such as Heroku. For details,see the Heroku security and privacy policies.

Web hosting

The website of Butterfy is hosted by Webflow. Webflow is a tool for creating and hosting websites. It stores cookies or other recognition technologies that are necessary for the display of the page, to provide certain website functions and to ensure security (necessary cookies). Newsletter

To stay informed, you can subscribe to our newsletters. For this purpose, Butterfy uses the tool Sendinblue. This tool works in compliance with GDPR and uses servers in Germany. Upon registration, Butterfy collects your email address. This information is used exclusively for the purpose of sending the newsletter. The newsletter is only sent to those who have signed up for it (double opt-in). You can unsubscribe at any time. For details, see the Sendinblue privacy policy.

Embedded content from other websites

Our sites may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These other websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. Please protect yourself.

How long we retain your data and what rights you have over it.
